New conservation area appraisals consultation

Have your say on surveys for our new conservation area appraisals

We recently announced that three of Torbay’s key areas will benefit from a partnership with National Lottery Heritage Fund’s Heritage Places scheme.

We have launched a consultation on three new proposed conservation area appraisals. These cover Torquay Harbour, Paignton Old Town, and Brixham Town.

There are online and paper surveys. We are also holding face-to-face engagement events in each town. This runs from Monday 17 March to Monday 7 April.

The three areas chosen last had conservation area appraisals 15 years ago. They need to be updated. The consultations include:

  • The updating of the conservation area appraisals for the identified conservation areas.
  • Review of the boundaries for each conservation area.

The conservation area appraisals will also support The Local Plan for Torbay.

We held a consultation in December 2024 and January 2025. This was about amending the boundary of the Brixham Town conservation area. We have already considered the feedback received on this. This new consultation is a revised proposal based on that feedback. Both consultations for Torquay and Paignton are new.
