Dogs are not allowed on certain beaches from 1 May to 30 September each year. During this time period dogs must also be kept on a lead on promenades adjacent to the beaches where dogs are not allowed.
At all times, if your dog is excitable or doesn’t respond well to your commands, it should be kept on a lead regardless of whether it is on a beach or a promenade.
We understand the importance of assistance dogs. They support their owners' daily activities and well-being. We have a commitment to accessibility. Working/assistance dogs are permitted on all Torbay beaches, all year round.
We want everyone to have a comfortable experience on the beach. We kindly request that all assistance dogs are clearly identified as such with a vest or harness. This helps to inform other beachgoers. They will then understand why the dog is on the beach and welcome it.
Check the lists below to see where and when you can exercise your dog.
