August highlights

  • 6 community protection warnings were issued for behaviours including dog control, criminal damage to property in Beacon Quay car park, persistent hostile begging and aggressive behaviour.
  • 5 community protection notices were issued for behaviours including aggressive and hostile begging and disruption of business activity.
  • 4 ASB letters were issued.
  • 73 public spaces protection orders (PSPOs) were issued for alcohol (59 in Torquay and 14 in Paignton).
  • 21 PSPOs were given for dispersal in Torquay for behaviour-related issues.
  • There has been further enforcement in 16 cases in Torquay and one in Paignton. This is where individuals were pursued for incidents including shoplifting and aggressive and threatening behaviours.
  • Town centre officers and anti-social behaviour officers also monitor people regularly.
  • 6 homeless people were housed in either private rented accommodation or at the Leonard Stocks hostel.
  • 66 businesses in Torquay and 54 in Paignton are part of Radio Net. These are portable radios to improve communication between traders and address shoplifting and ASB. The radio system is linked directly into the CCTV control room and the police.
  • 59 Torquay businesses are part of Night Net, a radio system operating in the evening and night-time economy. Street Marshalls and pastors also carry them.
