We will often be called to remove debris from the highway following a road traffic collision. We have a duty to ensure the highway is safe to be used so where debris or fluids are reported, we have to attend to assess the safety of the highway and clear up as required.

We are able to recover costs incurred in attending, clearing away any debris and repairing any damage to the highway.

If we are raising a charge against an individual, we will write to warn them of the impending invoice. If you believe there is a reason why you are not responsible for the costs of clearing away debris or repairing the highway, you should contact us as soon as possible.

In the case of a road traffic collision, you will need to supply proof in the form of a police collision report or statement from your insurance company that another party was at fault.
