What help is available if you have COVID-19 or are too unwell to leave your home
Most people with COVID-19 and other respiratory infections will have a relatively mild illness, especially if they have been vaccinated.
If you have symptoms of a respiratory infection, such as COVID-19, and you have a high temperature or do not feel well enough to go to work or carry out normal activities, or you have a positive COVID-19 test result, you should try and stay at home, if you can.
The shielding programme for people who were previously considered clinically extremely vulnerable (CEV) has now ended. There remains a smaller number of people whose immune system means, in spite of vaccination, they are at a higher risk of serious illness from COVID-19.
If it is a medical emergency, call 999 and inform the call handler that you, or someone in your household, have COVID-19 symptoms.
If it’s not an emergency, contact the NHS 111 online or call NHS 111.
If you are staying at home, you may need some extra support.
If you need help while at home, for example for food shopping, prescriptions contact the Torbay Help Hub.
We know that staying at home can be difficult, frustrating and lonely. It’s important to take care of your emotional wellbeing. Stay in touch with family and friends over the phone, by text and over social media.
