Anyone looking for a new job can meet with Torbay and South Devon employers, who are actively recruiting, at the South Devon Jobs Fair in Torquay on Friday 5 October.
IKEA, Blue Sea Food Company, Midas Construction, Riverford Organic Farmers, Rockfish and Thomas Cook are just some of the businesses who will be recruiting on the day.
This free event will take place in Torquay’s Town Hall Assembly Rooms from 9:30am to 1pm, providing candidates the opportunity to meet with up to 80 local employers.
The jobs fair, which is delivered by TDA, Torbay Council and Jobcentre Plus in partnership, conveniently brings a range of employers from across Torbay and South Devon together in one space.
Torbay’s Elected Mayor, Gordon Oliver, says: “Every Jobs Fair that we have held over the past three years has been very successful, thanks to the quality of the businesses across Torbay and South Devon. We match job vacancies with skills and provide a unique platform for candidates to find a new role in Torbay’s diverse sectors.
“The investment we are seeing in Torbay means that there are more jobs being created and more employment opportunities. There will be hundreds of live vacancies on offer, from local employers across all sectors including construction, hospitality and tourism. We welcome anyone looking for a job to attend and talk with employers about the vacancies on offer. We will continue to run jobs fairs to support our South Devon businesses find suitable candidates for their expanding and growing companies.”
TDA will also be showcasing the range of business support it provides to local employers to help them develop, grow and take on more employees. Jobcentre Plus Work Coaches will be available throughout the day to support and help people with CV’s. Job applications will be available in Torquay Jobcentre.
Rebecca Davies, Senior Economic Development Officer at TDA, says: “We have great interest from employers across the region and look forward to hosting an event with a diverse range of employment opportunities. Getting to meet the employers face to face to discuss the roles available and its suitability for the individual provides a real advantage to getting the right job. Over 90 people have successfully secured work through the Jobs Fairs so far.”
Karen Palin, Employer Engagement Manager at Jobcentre Plus, said: “Following the success of the previous South Devon Jobs Fairs, the event provides an excellent opportunity for candidates to meet and talk to employers who have vacancies. The Jobs Fair combined with support in the Jobcentre will help people fulfil ambitions and find their desired job.”
Previous South Devon Jobs Fairs have seen a high number of candidates successfully securing permanent and temporary contracts, with the range of opportunities providing them with suitable roles.
