Torbay Lottery Small Grants Fund is now open for applications until 4pm on Monday 3 March 2025. Those who have supported the central Torbay Lottery Fund have raised £10,000 for the 2024/2025 Small Grants Fund pot. We are is inviting local charity, voluntary and community sector organisations to apply for a bid. These bids can be towards the costs of a specific activity or for the purchase of small items of equipment up to £2,000.
Councillor Jackie Thomas, Cabinet Member for Tourism, Culture & Events and Corporate Services, said:
“Torbay Lottery has been helping our local communities to raise additional funding since 2017. We have already given out £91,136 from the Torbay Lottery Small Grants Fund over the past six years and would really like to see new local groups applying this year so that we can benefit even more residents.”
“We would also like to encourage as many local groups as possible to join our Torbay Lottery. It is an easy and fun way to help raise monthly funding, with support from pre-designed marketing materials and a dedicated page on our Torbay Lottery website.”
There is no cost to becoming a Torbay Lottery good cause and good causes receive 50p from every ticket sold for their cause. The Torbay Lottery currently has 151 local good causes signed up, with over £257,439 being raised for good causes since the Lottery was launched.
The top good cause for last year was Torbay National Coastwatch Institution who raised £1,144 last year.
In 2024, we had its first £25,000 jackpot winner as well as one payer winning £2,000 at the end of the year.
The panel will meet to determine who will benefit from this grant, with successful applicants being notified within six weeks of the closing date for applications.
You do not need to be a current Torbay Lottery good cause to apply, but must meet the requirements set out in the policy. Here is an extract:
Funding will only be provided where it can be demonstrated that a defined impact will be made that support the ambitions and visions of the Community and Corporate Plan. Organisations should demonstrate an outcomes focus in applications for funding. Applicants are encouraged to demonstrate how the funding will achieve support for projects run by charities, voluntary groups and clubs and organisations.
Torbay Council residents will be the main recipients of the funding. The council will require that all funding awards support the ambitions and visions of the Community and Corporate Plan.
