A three-week public consultation has been launched today (26 July) about the provision of childcare and early years support in Torbay.

Torbay Council is inviting Torbay parents and carers to share their needs and experiences of childcare in the area. The consultation refers to all types of childcare, including care of children from ages 0 to five as well as childcare for school age children, such as holiday clubs.

The information gathered will help the Council to plan ahead and ensure that there are enough high-quality childcare places at the times and in the areas that families need them.

The survey takes between five and 10 minutes to complete and all answers are confidential. This survey is only for residents of Torbay who live in Torquay, Paignton or Brixham.

Cllr Nick Bye, Cabinet Member for Children’s Services for Torbay Council said: ‘‘We understand the importance of high-quality childcare and how vital it is to families. This consultation will help us to understand how childcare is being used across the Bay and the challenges that parents and carers are facing. With this information, we can decide how and where to allocate funding and support so that families have access to the childcare that they need. I strongly encourage families who use childcare or early years services to take part in the consultation. We want to hear your thoughts and experiences.’’
