Torbay Lottery’s New Year winner has scooped the guaranteed prize of a £50 hamper kindly donated by Churston Farm Shop.

All players who signed up to play the lottery by 1 January 2018 were also in with a chance of winning the usual weekly draw prizes of up to £25,000.

Mrs Roberts of Torquay, said: “I support the Torbay Lottery as I believe in keeping it local. It was a brilliant surprise to win the hamper and a great start to 2018. I will be encouraging my friends to join up and support the Torbay Lottery.”

The Torbay Lottery has been running since April 2017 and supporters can choose which of the 104 local charities or good causes, currently signed up, they would like their money to benefit. 60p from every £1 ticket goes directly to supporting local causes, with 20p going into the prize pot. The biggest cash prize won to date is £2,000 which was won in August.

Many local authorities across the country are now running local lotteries which are a great way for residents to play, safe in the knowledge that their money will stay within their communities and support the causes that they care about.

In the 9 months since it started the Torbay Lottery has raised over £36,000 for local good causes.

The aim is to raise £50,000 by May 2018 and everyone is being invited to help achieve that goal by signing up at www.torbaylottery.co.uk and make a difference to their community.
