Torre Abbey Museum, in partnership with Barn Cinema and Dartington Arts, is proud to bring you eight nights of fantastic open air cinema in the stunning grounds of Torre Abbey, amongst the ancient ruins.
Commencing on Thursday 17 August and finishing on Sunday 27 August, there is an amazing programme line-up of classic and contemporary films. Watch classics such as Jaws and Dirty Dancing or more modern day films such as La La Land and the Lion King out the in the open under the stars.
Executive Lead for Tourism, Culture and Harbours, Cllr Nicole Amil, said: “This is a real coup for the Abbey and has already generated a lot of interest and tickets are selling fast. The ruins in the grounds of the beautiful Abbey Garden provide the perfect atmosphere and backdrop for this event.”
Doors open from 7.30pm. Films start at 9pm. There are limited tickets so make sure book early. Please bring chairs/picnic blankets and wrap-up warm. We have a licensed bar on site and cinema snacks will be on sale. Please note, due to licensing restrictions, only alcohol bought from the bar may be consumed on site.

Friday 18 August - An American Werewolf in London (15)
An undoubted cult classic, with brilliant make-up effects for its time, it’s both utterly terrifying and very, very funny. Just remember, keep clear of the moors, stay on the road and beware the moon!
Saturday 19 August - Dirty Dancing 30 Anniversary Screening (15)
Prepare to have the time of your life (again) as we host a 30th anniversary showing of the cult classic. Grab a group of friends and help us create a real party atmosphere, with fancy dress, singing, watermelons and dirty dancing welcome!
Sunday 20 August - Jaws (12A)
When an insatiable great white shark terrorizes Amity Island, a police chief, an oceanographer and a grizzled shark hunter seek to destroy the beast. We'd suggest going swimming before the film, rather than after.
Thursday 24 August - La La Land (12a)

Friday 25 August - The Lion King (U)
A young lion cub named Simba can't wait to be king. But his uncle craves the title for himself and will stop at nothing to get it. This timeless Disney classic is the perfect night out for all the family. Fancy dress welcome!
Saturday 26 August - Wonder Woman (12a)
An Amazon princess finds her idyllic life on an island occupied only by female warriors interrupted when a pilot crash-lands nearby. After rescuing him, she learns that World War I is engulfing the planet, and vows to use her superpowers to restore peace. Why not dress as your favourite super hero.
Sunday 27 August - Breakfast At Tiffany's
Audrey Hepburn is perfect and iconic as Truman Capote’s whimsical, dazzling heroine in Blake Edwards’s sophisticated, sparkling comedy about two bohemians falling in love in midcentury Manhattan.
