Torbay Council is encouraging residents and visitors to Torbay Airshow to take the necessary precautions to stay safe and get the most out of the weekend.
Torbay Airshow will be taking place over the weekend from Friday 10 June to Sunday 12 June and promises to be a weekend of high quality entertainment and breathtaking displays.
To keep up to date with important announcements that may be made at the airshow, visitors to the event are being advised to follow social media through facebook.com/torbayairshow and twitter.com/torbayairshow
On site announcements will also be made through Breeze FM and over the PA system. Large crowds are anticipated so it is important to be aware of any event changes or advisory notices for health and safety purposes. To assist with traffic management, visitors can check social media and electronic roadside signs for updates, and tune in to Breeze FM.
With rising temperatures and longer days, it is also extremely important that people regularly apply sun cream throughout the day and stay in the shade whenever possible. To keep hydrated, spectators should ensure that they drink plenty of water and wear hats.
Torbay Airshow is sure to provide entertainment for all the family but it is important to remember that younger ears can be particularly sensitive to loud noises from jet engines and loud bands. There will be ear protectors being sold onsite in the airshow village for small children so they are able to enjoy the show in comfort.
The main flight paths for the air displays are directly in front of Paignton beach. For this reason please do not swim in the sea. It is important that everyone at the airshow is kept safe so please, by all means paddle, but do not swim out into the deeper waters. There will be lifeguards on hand to help with guidance and information.
Please take care of your families during this event. If you have small children be sure that they are being supervised at all times, especially near the water. For a more stress-free environment for your family there are hospitality tickets available from the airshow website for a family only, safe marquee where your children can safely play and you can enjoy the show from a private viewing area.
A Torbay Council spokesperson said: “The Torbay Airshow is promising to be a spectacular event with fun for all the family. Please ensure you look after you and your families’ welfare throughout this weekend so the event can be a stress free and safe for everyone to enjoy.”
If you are intending on operating a marine craft please bear in mind there is an exclusion zone in place during the weekend. For more information on this visit www.tor-bay-harbour.co.uk/hmn1416.pdf
