From Friday 1 April 2016, entry to Torre Abbey will be free for all children and young people under the age of 18.

The 820 year-old Abbey hopes to welcome more local families, opening its doors for new audiences to discover its amazing history. As one of Torbay’s premier heritage sites, Torre Abbey is also transforming its activities and events programme, with families days, children’s workshops, talks, theatre, and music planned over the course of the year.

Through the house and gardens, visitors can trace historic tales from the early years of Torre Abbey as a monastery in 1196 through time to the magnificent museum, gallery, exhibition and events venue it has become today – with something to interest the whole family, from children to grandparents and everyone in between.

Take the time to learn about Henry VIII intervention after the dissolution or the rise and fall of the Cary family dynasty.

Following a £11m restoration project, the Abbey boasts multi-media technology which includes a talking knight and animated plates in the Victorian Cary dining room. The historic house includes a beautiful haven of horticulture in the gardens and a delightful tearoom which offers a wide variety of light meals, snacks and drinks.

Events and activities are added regularly to the calendar so visitors are encouraged to check What's On on the website.
