The Coca-Cola Christmas truck tour returns to the Bay on Thursday 26 November as the iconic ‘Holidays Are Coming’ TV advert celebrates 20 years on UK screens
Coca-Cola has announced the return of the Coca-Cola Christmas truck tour, which will kick off on a nationwide tour on Friday 20 November.
The council has been working closely with the promotional company to ensure that the UK’s favourite Christmas truck returns to spread a little festive happiness. It will be situated in Victoria Street, Paignton, between 12noon and 8pm.
Stopping at 46 locations up and down the country, the Coca-Cola Christmas truck tour will give fans the opportunity to get up close and personal with the famous vehicle.
On each stop, people have the chance to take pictures with the truck as it lights up and experience a snowy winter wonderland setting while enjoying a choice of Coca-Cola, Diet Coke, Coke Zero or Coke Life.
To mark 20 years of the much-loved ‘Holidays Are Coming’ advert, this year -for the first time - Coca-Cola has let the public determine the release of the route – with the final route revealed today following 500 retweets on the company’s @CocaCola_GB Twitter profile.
In another first, this year Coca-Cola is running a special on-pack promotion to offer one lucky Coca-Cola customer a personal visit from the Christmas truck and a hamper of festive treats worth £5,000*.
Now in its second year, Coca-Cola will also air its ‘Give a Little Happiness’ TV advert, encouraging people to spread festive cheer throughout the holiday season.
People around the UK can also expect to receive more happiness with the launch of limited edition 1.75l Christmas ‘bow bottles’ - with a clever label that can transform into a gorgeous Christmas bow - available in all major supermarkets. Premium 1l glass bottles of Coca-Cola and Diet Coke will also be available this year, for those seeking an extra-special treat for their Christmas dinner table.
Bobby Brittain, marketing director for Coca-Cola Great Britain, said: “We’re delighted to be marking 20 years of ‘Holidays are Coming’ on UK screens and take the Coca-Cola Christmas truck tour to as many towns as possible in the run up to Christmas. By launching a competition for a member of the public to win a personal visit from the Coca-Cola Christmas truck and making a further 46 stops across the UK, we’re looking forward to being able to give a little happiness to as many people across the country as possible.”
In 2014, fans were keen to check out the route of Coca-Cola’s Truck Tour as its website received nearly two million hits, whilst 50,000 official customer photos were taken across the tour’s 46 stops.
Ever since the Coca-Cola Christmas truck first appeared on screens in November 1995, it has become a regular feature of festive TV schedules in more than 100 different countries. It is universally recognised as a personal countdown to Christmas.
