Resident sign-ups for My Bay are now closed and will open again in January 2025

Why apply for the scheme?  

As part of the My Bay resident scheme, you can enjoy the following benefits:  

  • Pay for an hour or more and get an extra hour for free in Torbay Council's off-street pay-and-display car parks with your My Bay permit*1.  
  • Use My Bay resident card to get into Torbay public toilets for free, up to 33 times, worth £10 per year*2.  
  • Exclusive discounts from participating local businesses and venues when presenting your My Bay card or using special discount codes online*3.  

*1 Parking - not available on 30 minutes or 24 hour tickets, on-street parking, pay-on-exit car parks, using the Ringo app, or in conjunction with any other offers or permits. The annual physical parking permit must be displayed on your dashboard alongside a valid parking ticket. Maximum time limit in short-stay car parks still applies.

*2 Toilets – no in-year top-ups are available for the credit on the cards, and any unused credit will not be rolled over to the following year. 

*3 Discounts - offers may change over time and are subject to terms and conditions of each venue. Check with the venue before any purchase and refer to the scheme webpage for more details. 

Who can apply to join the scheme?  

Anybody aged 16 years and over with a primary residence in Torbay area can apply to join the scheme.   

To claim a My Bay parking permit alongside your My Bay resident card at no additional cost, you must upload a copy of BOTH your:  

  • V5 Log or Motability Agreement or Leasing Agreement
  • Driving licence.   

*Please note that the V5 Log or Motability Agreement or Leasing Agreement must be in your name and have the same Torbay address as your proof of residence to receive a parking permit. No additional proof of residence is required.   

If you are applying for the My Bay card only, you must upload ONE of the following as evidence of your main home in the Torbay area:  

  • Council Tax or Benefits Letter (within the last 12 months)  
  • Bank Statement (within the last 12 months)  
  • Utility or Mobile Phone Bill (within the last 3 months)  
  • Driving Licence  
  • Mortgage/ Rental Agreement  
  • Letter from school/ university (within the last 12 months)  
  • Vehicle/ Home Insurance (within the last 12 months)  
  • DWP or Pensions Service Letter (within the last 12 months)  
  • Concessionary Bus Pass (valid and in date) 

Evidence can be uploaded as PDFs, scanned copies, screenshots, or clear photographs. Blurry or unclear proofs may delay the processing of your application.   

Please have the evidence ready with you before starting your My Bay application.

Please Note:

      • Each person can get one card, and everyone in a household can apply for their own cards. Currently, family cards are not available.
      • Each person and each vehicle can have one permit. If you have more than one vehicle, choose the one you want the permit for and apply for the scheme with that vehicle.
      • Only vehicle owners can get a permit. You can't get a permit for someone else's vehicle, even if you are the main driver.
      • Free sign-ups for unpaid carers are limited to one per household. Other carers in the household can apply as regular residents.
      • If unpaid carers have a vehicle, they can get the My Bay parking permit as part of their applications, but they can't get permits for other people's vehicles, even if they live in the same house.
