Cllr Chris Lewis

  • Chris was brought up in London where he was in business and heavily involved in both Local and National Politics
  • In 1983 he stood for Parliament
  • He owned a Business Travel Agency for over twenty years – arranging travel for the BBC and others
  • Chris sold his agency to a major international company where he became a Director and worked on a number of projects both here and abroad
  • He was a Fellow of the Institute of Travel and Tourism
  • In 2000 he moved to Torbay and bought a group of Holiday Cottages which he operated for a number of years
  • In 2007 he was elected to Torbay Council and became Deputy Mayor with the Portfolio of Economic Regeneration. He has held a number positions on the Council and remains the Councillor for Preston
  • One of the founder directors of the TDA
  • Board member of the South West Regional Development Agency 2009 – 2012
  • Whilst in Opposition on Torbay Council bought a Beach Kiosk in Goodrington and ran it with his wife for six years
  • In 2023 the Conservatives took control of Torbay Council and Chris was appointed Deputy Leader with the Portfolio of Place Development and Economic Growth
  • He is currently involved in major Regeneration Projects within the Bay
