We understand the importance of assistance dogs. They support their owners' daily activities and well-being. We have a commitment to accessibility. Working/assistance dogs are permitted on all Torbay beaches, all year round.
We want everyone to have a comfortable experience on the beach. We kindly request that all assistance dogs are clearly identified as such with a vest or harness. This helps to inform other beachgoers. They will then understand why the dog is on the beach and welcome it.
This mainly sandy beach with clean, calm waters represents an unusual combination of attractive scenery, the Quaywest Water Park and Goodrington and Youngs Park, which is an area of established park land. It is therefore a major attraction in the area, capable of supporting a very large number of visitors.
Facilities and amenities are outstanding for all age groups with amusements. This is a great place for swimming and water sports, and there are various water craft that you can hire. At low tide rock pools are exposed which are great to explore.
During the summer season the local steam train can be seen running along the back of south sands beach.
Banned from beach 1 May to 30 September on South Beach. Dogs on the promenade must be on leads at all times.
