An exciting new light trail is set to illuminate Torquay this Christmas.
Starting 29 November through to 21 December 2024
Live performances at 6pm, 7pm, 8pm on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights.
As part of the wider Bay of Lights initiative Torquay harbourside will play host to a variety of festive events, music, and children’s entertainment throughout December.
As you venture out this Christmas season, embark on the Bay Of Lights Illumination trail and visit our harbourside stage - located by the slipway near the newly developed Strand area - and soak up the atmosphere with live music and festive cheer! Find out more here
The Bay of Lights promises to ignite the night sky once again! It will transform The English Riviera into a dazzling celebration of Christmas. We have some exciting new installations for you all to enjoy. It will be there to enjoy from Friday 29 November until Thursday 2 January 2025.
The 1.5-mile trail will wind its way along Torquay's iconic waterfront. It will start from Abbey Park, through the Tunnel of lights. It will then go up over the curly bridge, across the seafront promenade and end at the harbourside. You can follow the route in whichever direction you prefer.
It is free and accessible. The Bay of Lights promises a sensory extravaganza that will delight everyone. The trail runs daily from 4.30pm, with sound elements until 9.30pm and lighting displays until 11pm.
We want The Bay of Lights to become a firm family festive favourite. We hope to encourage visitors to make a weekend of it here in the English Rivera this Christmas.
The Bay of Lights will include Paignton and Brixham. Both towns will be hosting 12-metre-high pixel mappable Christmas Trees. These will provide a spectacular digital sound and light show. These will also run daily from 4:30pm, with sound elements until 9:30pm and lighting displays until 11pm.

This year in the sunken gardens we will place 1000 fantastic LED flowers that will perform stunning visual light shows.
We are offering the chance for you or a special someone be part of this years Illumination trail. You can purchase a flower in a name of your choice, with 50% of proceeds going to the Mayor’s charities.

The Bay of Lights Illumination Trail is part of the wider Bay of Lights Initiative. The Bay of Lights takes place throughout Torquay, Paignton and Brixham in December, when the whole Bay comes alive with a flurry of illuminated events. Funded by Torbay Council, SWISCo and the English Riviera BID Company, the 2024 trail is also supported by a range of generous organisations and businesses including Big Wave Marketing, Torre Abbey, Exeter Bar Company and FTS. The Bay of Lights incorporates everything from the Illumination Trail at Torquay, Brixham Lanterns, Lights & 'Luminations, to the Christmas Train of Lights in Paignton, and seasonal illuminated events at popular local destinations giving the English Riviera a truly magical feel this winter.
In Torquay’s town centre, festive lighting will be put up through Union Street and Fleet Street, courtesy of the Torquay Town Centre Partnership. In Paignton along the seafront, and at Brixham harbour, residents and visitors will get to enjoy a magnificent 8-meter-high pixel Christmas Tree.

The Bay of Lights Illumination Trail is a visual attraction. When you walk and enjoy the trail, don't touch any of the installations.
