I am at risk of homelessness

What to do if you are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless.

If you are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless, you should tell us. This will give you access to the support and advice you need.

  • Housing Options: 01803 208723 (Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm)
  • Emergency Line: 0300 456 4876 (out of hours - homeless only)

We will prioritise anyone who is homeless or at imminent risk of homelessness.

What information we need to know

Make sure you give us as much information as you can. Our housing options team will then assess the information.

We may also need you to email a clear photo of a form of identification so we can help you.

We will need to see either:

  • a valid passport
  • a full birth certificate
  • valid immigration documents

We will need to see the physical documentation at some point to verify it.

What happens next

Once you have submitted the completed online self-referral form:

  • we will call you within 5 working days and let you know when a housing officer will contact you to talk about your housing options
  • if you are at imminent risk of homelessness, we will book a telephone appointment. We will then do a full housing assessment and work out the best option for you
