Drinking too much alcohol, and drinking too much in one go (binge drinking), leads to lots of different health problems, including CVD. Our Annual Public Health Report in 2022 described the risks and impacts that alcohol can have on our health as well as other aspects of our lives.
How do we shape up?
In Torbay, rates of hospital admissions for alcohol in under 18s and alcohol-specific mortality rates are higher than those for England and higher than the South West. However, the percentage of successfully completed alcohol treatment is higher in Torbay than South West and England.
