Sky lanterns and balloons policy

We have a duty to protect the natural environment in which we live. We must maintain our UNESCO Global Geopark designation which covers Torbay. We have introduced a policy on the release of balloons and sky/floating lanterns on land or property owned and/or controlled by us. Some of the problems they cause are:

• they a source of aquatic and marine pollution
• they are a fire hazard
• they a choking hazard for wildlife and farm animals
