If your account is in credit, you may be able to get a refund.
You may not be able to have a credit refunded if you have other debts with us. This includes:
- other council tax accounts
- business rates accounts
- overpaid housing benefits
Refunds are only paid into a bank account.
If you paid by Direct Debit the refund will usually go to the bank account that the payments came from.
You will need to give us the account details of where you would like the refund sent if:
- you would like the refund paid into a different account
- the council tax was not paid by Direct Debit
If the bank account is in one name but the Council Tax bill is in multiple names you need everyone’s permission for the refund to go into this account. Without a written agreement you may not receive the whole amount.
