Find out if you are entitled to a discount, exemption or council tax support to reduce your bill.
Council Tax is based on two or more adults (over 18 years) living in a household. If there are less than two, you can get a discount.
Certain types of people are not 'counted' (disregarded) towards the number of adults in a household. The bill is worked out as if they were not living there. This means your bill could be reduced by 25% or, in certain circumstances, by 50%.
If you think you qualify for a reduction in your bill you will need to apply.
In some cases, such as with empty or unoccupied properties, a premium might apply instead. This will increase the amount you need to pay.
