What’s on for childminders in Torbay 

  • Childminder Network meetings are held virtually each term at 6.30pm to 7.30pm. A link will be sent to all registered childminders.
  • The Home Learning Environment and Early Years team hold sessions for childminders and their children towards the end of each month. It is an opportunity to join in activities, network and speak with members of the team.

Become a childminder or nanny in England

All childminders are registered with Ofsted or with a childminder agency. OFSTED information is available here. 

An online pre-registration briefing module is available for free on iLearn. It outlines the role and responsibilities of childminders.

Information available to childminders: 

As a childminder, you can work from your own home. This is classed as a domestic premises. You can also work from non-domestic premises. This could be an outdoor space, religious venue or village hall. 

If you are planning on providing food to the children in your care, you will have to register this with Torbay Council.
