Wraparound Childcare Programme

Find out about the Wraparound Childcare Programme

In Spring 2023, the government announced a national wraparound programme. The aim is to support all working families to access wraparound childcare from 8am to 6pm, in their local area or on their school site.

Wraparound childcare is childcare that ‘wraps around’ the conventional school day. It is:

  • For primary-aged school children
  • Weekdays from 8am to 6pm, during term-time only
  • Provided by your local school or a childcare provider (this includes private settings and childminders)

Grant Funding for Providers

Wraparound Programme grant funding is available for providers to develop or expand on before and after school places throughout Torbay. The funding will be delivered based on the aims of the National Wraparound Programme and guidance from the Department for Education. The government has provided Torbay Council with start-up funding to distribute during the programme delivery period. This will support childcare providers and schools in Torbay to develop or expand wraparound childcare provision on either side of the school day to meet parental demand

This funding can be granted to schools and childcare providers. It will assist in the creation or expansion of wraparound childcare that can meet the government requirements. Schools and childcare providers must be Ofsted registered to receive funding.

Further details will be available shortly detailing the application process.
