Gov.uk has independent calculators which you can use to find out what benefits you could be entitled to and how much Housing Benefit or Council Tax Support you may get.

These are free to use, completely confidential and anonymous. None of the details you enter will be passed to us.

The calculators give an estimate of what you may be entitled to, based on the information you enter.

The amount shown at the end of the calculator is not guaranteed and may not be what you receive if you submit a claim.

Claims usually start from the Monday after we receive an application so if you think you may be entitled to some help it’s important that you submit your application as soon as possible.

You can’t use the calculator if you’re under 18 and they will not give an accurate result if you’re:

  • A student
  • Self-employed
  • Not a British or Irish citizen
  • A prisoner
  • Living permanently in residential care or a nursing home
  • Living outside the UK
  • On strike
