Learning disabilities week 2024

Learning Disability Week is taking place 17 to 23 June 2024. The theme for this year is ‘Do you see me?’, which is all about people with a learning disability being seen, heard and valued.

Did you know?

• There are approximately 1.5 million people with a Learning disability in the UK.
• There are estimated to be around 2,500 adults with some form of learning disability in Torbay
• 70 % of adults with some form of learning disability are under the age of 65.

 We want to celebrate the things people with a learning disability bring to society, and you can help to by participating in Learning Disability Week 2024!

How can I get involved?

• Check out some of the brilliant events taking place across Torbay that are being facilitated by and for people with learning disabilities.
• Follow our series of comms which will be sent throughout Learning Disability week, to educate yourself on what’s going on locally, upcoming training and the small changes that can make a big difference.
• Campaign with Mencap to challenge the barriers and stigmas that people with a learning disability face. There are lots of resources including email banners and social media posts available on their website for you to use.
