Reason for inclusion in Forward Plan: The refined Active Ageing Strategy provides an opportunity to enable people to prepare more effectively for the future to maximise their opportunities in later life. In addition the financial challenge of an ageing population means that new ways of working need to be considered, as if we do no nothing the cost of health and social care will become too high for us to maintain. Torbay’s unique demographic profile is an opportunity for setting the standard for the rest of the country in empowering and caring for an aging population.

Key Risks: That vital funding is withdrawn during the lifetime of the project.
