Save Torbay's Countryside- Increase funding for Torbay Coast & Countryside Trust in 2014/15 to £193k and in 2015/16 to £183k
Save our Torbay- our countryside is under threat.
Torbay Coast & Countryside Trust protects and cares for 88% of Torbay's natural green spaces and its marine environment. Torbay Council funds the Trust to manage land on its behalf. In February this year, the Council decided to reduce their funding by 50% (over two years) without considering the impact of that change.
The Trust have declared that, with the imposition of reduced funding, it cannot adequately maintain sites such as Berry Head National Nature Reserve, Cockington Country Park, Daddyhole/Rock End Walk, Hope's Nose, Roundham Head, Saltern Cove, Wall's Hill and the South West Coastal footpath.
These funding cuts will prevent Torbay Coast & Countryside Trust from caring for Torbay's most special natural places for the benefit of residents and visitors.
