It was reported that, in accordance with the wishes of the Liberal Democrat Group, the membership of the Committee had been amended to include Councillor Long instead of Councillor Steve Darling.

In the absence of the Chairman (Councillor Steve Darling), Councillor Law was elected as Chairwoman for the meeting.

To confirm as a correct record the Minutes of the meeting of the Committee held on 18 January 2022.

The Minutes of the meeting of the Employment Committee held on 18 January 2022 were confirmed as a correct record and signed by the Chairwoman.

To consider passing a resolution to exclude the press and public from the meeting prior to consideration of the following item on the agenda on the grounds that exempt information (as defined by the Local Government (Access to Information) Act, 1972 (as amended)) is likely to be disclosed.

Prior to consideration of the item in Minute 68 the press and public were formally excluded from the meeting on the grounds that the item involved the likely disclosure of exempt information as defined in Paragraph 1 of Part 1 of Schedule 12A of the Local Government Act 1972 (as amended).

To interview candidates for the role of Divisional Director Children’s Safeguarding and to consider making an appointment to the role.         

The Committee considered the submitted exempt report on the proposed recruitment for the post of Divisional Director of Children’s Safeguarding. 

Resolved (unanimously): 

That Becky Thompson be appointed as Divisional Director Children’s Safeguarding with immediate effect.
