Councillor David Thomas was elected as Chairman of the Employment Committee for the 2024/2025 Municipal Year.

Apologies

To receive apologies for absence, including notifications of any changes to the membership of the Committee.

Minutes:

It was reported that, in accordance with the wishes of the Conservative Group and Liberal Democrat Group, the membership of the Committee had been amended to include Councillors Bye and Penny in place of Councillors Tyerman and Law respectively.

The Minutes of the meeting of the Employment Committee held on 25 July 2024 were confirmed as a correct record and signed by the Chairman.

To consider the submitted report on delegations for interim Director appointments to the Chief Executive.

Minutes:

The Employment Committee considered the submitted report on a proposal to give the Chief Executive delegated authority, in consultation with the Leader of the Council and the Chairman/woman of the Employment Committee to enable the Chief Executive to make interim Director appointments, which was currently reserved specifically to the Employment Committee, and would enable the Council to respond quickly where urgent and interim arrangements needed to be made to enable the Council to deliver its priorities in the Community and Corporate Plan.

 

Resolved (unanimously):

 

That the Chief Executive, as Head of Paid Service, in consultation with the Leader of the Council and Chairman/woman of the Employment Committee (where appointed), be given delegated authority to make interim Director appointments and to determine their terms and conditions of employment
