An Electoral Review is being undertaken by the Local Government Boundary Commission for England (LGBCE).  The Council will be required to make formal submissions in respect of the number of Councillors required for an effective Council and the number of Councillors and boundaries for each Ward within Torbay and respond to the recommendations of the LGBCE.

That the final submission by Torbay Council on Warding Patters as attached to this record of decision be approved for submission to the Local Government Boundary Commission for England.

To approve the Council’s final submission on Warding Patterns.

This decision may be implemented immediately.

At the extraordinary Council meeting held on 8 August 2017, the Council approved the proposed changes to Warding Patterns set out in the submitted report - Council Minute 71/8/17, extract below:

(i)         that the Proposed Changes to Warding Patterns – Submission by Torbay Council set out in Appendices 1 and 5 to the submitted report be approved for submission to the Local Government Boundary Commission for England;

(ii)        that the Assistant Director Corporate and Business Services be requested to redraw the 15 Ward maps using GIS to show the changes to the warding patterns reflected in Appendices 1 and 5 to the submitted report; and

(iii)       that the Assistant Director Corporate and Business Services be authorised to make any technical amendments to address any anomalies identified when redrawing the Ward maps.

The final ward maps have been produced together with the final submission which have been signed off by the Assistant Director Corporate and Business Services and are attached to this record of decision.
