Controlled Parking Zone (CPZ)/Resident Parking Policy

Decision Maker: Director of Pride in Place

Decision status: Recommendations Approved

Is Key decision?: No

Is subject to call in?: No

Decision:

That Controlled Parking Zone/Resident Parking Policy as set out in Appendix 1 be approved and published on the Council website.

Reasons for the decision:

This will allow for residents with support from ward councillors/community leaders to consider the policy and where appropriate commence the process for consideration of a CPZ/Residents Zone where they live.

Alternative options considered:

To not approve this Policy will result in the current situation where residents do not have the option to apply for consideration of a CPZ/Resident parking zone in their area. Highways have received requests and ward councillors have also been approached by residents therefore the approval of the Controlled Parking Zone/Resident Parking Policy is the preferred option.

Implementation:

Highways have already received requests for consideration. Once the toolkit is available those requests can be considered in line with the policy.

Information:

Torbay Council Controlled Parking Zone/Resident Parking Policy sets out the process and requirements for the introduction of controlled parking zones. The policy has been discussed at the former Transport and Parking Working Party (now known as Cabinet Road Network and Travel Working Party).

Interests and Nature of Interests Declared:

None.
