Decision Maker: Elected Mayor
Decision status: Recommendations approved
Is Key decision?: Yes
Is subject to call in?: Yes
Purpose:
Following the outcome of a feasibility study, to explore the potential for and delivery of a helipad, to facilitate connectivity to regional, national and international markets and promote investment in Torbay.
Decision:
That the Chief Finance Officer be requested to allocate £10,000 from the 2015/16 Corporate Management budget to enable officers to carry out a feasibility study to explore the potential for and delivery of a helipad in Torbay.
Reasons for the decision:
To agree funding for a feasibility study for a helipad in Torbay.
Alternative options considered:
None
Implementation:
This decision will come into force and may be implemented on 22 December unless the call-in procedure is triggered (as set out in Standing Orders in relation to Overview and Scrutiny).
Information:
In order to provide sustainable transport links within Torbay the Mayor proposes to explore the creation of a helipad in Torbay as there is currently no permanent suitable site for helicopters to land in Torbay.
It is anticipated that the feasibility into the need and suitable location for a helipad site will cost £10,000. The Chief Finance Officer has been consulted on this and has confirmed that this could be funded from within the current Corporate Management Budget.
Further funding and approval will be required by the Council should the proposal for a helipad be deemed appropriate.
