General
1) The premises are a main post office and convenience store operating under the Bookers Premier Express Brand.
2) Both Post Office and Bookers set high standards of quality, safety and security for the operation of their franchisees. Staff training and effective management will be in place to ensure these standards are maintained.
The Prevention of Crime and Disorder
1) The store has CCTV surveillance covering the whole of the interior and the entrance/exit.
2) Spirits will be on display behind the counter with staff access only. Other alcohol will be on display immediately adjacent to the counter in permanent vision of staff at the counter.
3) Staff will receive training in the legal requirements regarding the sale of alcohol and signs will be in place relating to under-age sales.
4) Because of current sales of age restricted products such as tobacco and lottery, staff are already used to challenging anyone who appears to be under age, and asking for appropriate proof of age and identification.
Public Safety
1) Public safety is a priority. Staff training regarding the sale of alcohol and the situation of the display areas will ensure this priority is fulfilled.
The Prevention of Public Nuisance
1) Bearing in mind the location and nature of the business, it is not envisaged that there will be a public nuisance, however, staff training in the requirements of the licensing legislation will ensure that all staff are aware of their responsibilities regarding the potential for problems relating to noise and litter arising from sales of alcohol.
The protection of children from harm
1) Staff will receive initial training in regard to the sale of alcohol to minors and periodic 'top up' training as required. As stated above they are already used to dealing with the sale of age restricted products.
2) Appropriate signage will be in place and the business will adopt the 'challenge 25' scheme.
