General
1. The vessel by law must have an MCA Certificate to operate. Part of this certificate is to comply with the DSM Code which includes ship construction, maximum number of passengers carried, safe means of access, safety equipment, navigation safety, certificated crew trained, operating limits, health and safety, recording of passenger numbers, safety announcements, co-operation with emergency services, search and rescue plans and emergency procedures.
The Prevention of Crime and Disorder
1. As an MCA domestic passenger ship there must be in place a safe capacity limit.
2. The effects of violence shall be reduced through the promotion of using plastic glasses.
3. Alcohol sales shall be ended in good time prior to the disembarkation of the vessel.
4. There shall be no heavily discounted drinks promotions.
5. The premises shall reduce the risks of excessive alcohol consumption by providing reasonably priced soft drinks.
Public Safety
1. Risks to public and staff shall be assessed while embarking and disembarking as stated in the DSSM.
2. Number of passengers shall not exceed that which the vessel is licensed for.
3. Emergency training shall be provided and cogs are kept onboard the vessel.
4. Controlled entry by clicker system shall be used as approved by MCA.
The Prevention of Public Nuisance
1. The vessel shall reduce any excess noise by ensuring that noise is kept to a minimum when in the vicinity of harbours. Sound at sea shall not be excessive.
2. No light disturbances shall interfere with residents as vessel is moored at the end of a long pier.
3. Guests and passengers shall be asked to disembark and embark quietly.
The Protection of Children from Harm
1. If a person looks under 21, they shall be asked for ID. Suitable ID: passport, driving licence with photo, proof of age scheme (PASS).
2. Alcohol shall not be served to anyone who can not produce ID.
3. Children of any age shall be allowed on the vessel and in the bar area.
4. No children under 16 shall be allowed on the vessel without an accompanying adult.
5. All scheduled daytime and evening cruises shall be family orientated. When not, children shall not be permitted.
