General
1. The store shall operate to a high standard with regard to the sale of alcohol.
2. All staff must have been fully trained in their responsibilities with regard to the sale of alcohol, and shall be retrained by the company on a periodic basis.
3. The store shall move the display of alcohol during seasonal trade, due to demand and availability.
4. All alcohol displays shall however be in full view of a manned counter at all times.
The Prevention of Crime and Disorder
1. An extensive CCTV system must be in operation to provide security and identify any culprit who is intent in causing trouble in store.
2. All alcohol offered for sale shall be electronically tagged for security, and the store shall employ a store detective during trading hours.
3. All alcohol kept in storage, i.e. off the sales floor shall be securely locked away, with only limited personnel having access to the stock.
4. Al current security measures shall remain in operation.
5. All staff must be fully trained in this area.
Public Safety
1. Staff must be trained to be alert to any potential danger to customers and react accordingly. If they are unable to quickly diffuse the situation without risk to customer or staff, then they shall be instructed to call the police.
The Prevention of Public Nuisance
1. Loitering in store shall not be encouraged to prevent the potential of causing nuisance to customers, either in requesting they purchase alcohol on their behalf, or general intimidating behaviour.
2. The entrance to the store must be visible from the till point area, and so can be monitored by the staff.
3. CCTV cameras shall also pick up any disturbance in this area, and on the sales floor, as will the store detectives.
The Protection of Children From Harm
1. Only photographic ID shall be accepted (passport, driving licence, citizen card with hologram).
2. Anyone who appears to be under the age of 21 shall be challenged to provide ID. If the customer is unable to provide identification then no sale shall be made.
3. Any staff member who may be under the age of 18 must call a senior staff member to take over the sale and complete the transaction, and in inbuilt till prompt must be in place to ensure this takes place.
4. If it is known that a customer intends to purchase alcohol to provide to minors than that sale shall be refused.
