General
1. Staff must be trained in relation to age related sales.
The Prevention of Crime and Disorder
1. Staff shall be trained to monitor customer activity to minimise theft and public disorder.
2. CCTV must be provided and maintained in good working order.
3. Products identified as targets for shoplifters shall be monitored on CCTV and placed away from entrances and exits. Such items shall also be security tagged and protected by alarmed barriers.
4. Security guards must be employed where necessary and security must be under the supervision of the manager or designated member of staff.
5. Notices must be displayed clearly outlining the Company Policy in relation to alcohol sales.
6. A designated member of staff shall co-operate with local crime prevention schemes and make regular contact with security staff in neighbouring retail premises and shopping centres.
7. Stocks of alcohol for replenishment must be stored in a locked section of the storeroom.
Public Safety
1. Premises must have fire and smoke detection equipment.
2. General staff training must include steps to ensure the safety of customers in and around the perimeter of the premises, where applicable.
3. Store design shall aim to ensure safe ingress and egress of customers.
The Prevention of Public Nuisance
1. Diligence shall be required from staff in monitoring activities in and around the premises. Staff must report any incidents to the appropriate member of staff.
2. A designated member of staff shall co-operate with local crime prevention schemes and make regular contact with security staff in neighbouring retail premises and shopping centres.
3. All staff must be trained with respect to the requirement to refuse sale of alcohol to intoxicated customers.
4. All alcohol related product labeling must carry a statement promoting responsible drinking.
The Protection of Children from Harm
1. All staff must be trained in the company policy regarding underage sales.
2. Staff must challenge any person attempting to buy alcohol who is apparently under age and must request proof of age where necessary.
3. The till system shall provide an electronic flag on any age restricted products to remind staff to check the age of the purchaser.
4. Notices of the company policy in relation to the sale of alcohol must be displayed at the point of sale.
5. Sales staff must be trained in relation to under age sales, including acceptable forms of identification.
