Excessive Vehicle Noise
There is a steady and concerning increase in the number of cars
and motorbikes being driven around the bay which emit excessive,
anti-social, and likely illegal levels of noise pollution, mainly
as a result of being fitted with modified exhaust systems. Coupled
with this is a general disregard for road safety and social
etiquette in the manner in which these vehicles are driven. This is
scaling to almost epidemic proportions with the problem not
confined to any one area, time of day, week or season.
In addition, the laws which do already exists regarding noise
levels from vehicles are not being effectively enforced (as the
problem is demonstrably getting worse, not better)
This petition therefore urges the relevant authorities to: a)
effectively enforce all current statute laws, and b) lobby
parliament for changes in the law necessary to deal with the
problem more effectively.
